"DOWNWARD SPIRAL, what can be done to tackle the dwindling number of runners in novice chases?"BHA considers radical cure for novice chasers' problem.
"BRUCE JACKSON  looks at the high number of small fields in novice chases'
and investigates what plans are afoot to tackle the issues.
"EVERYBODY from the BHA to bookmakers are agreed that something
needs to be done to overcome levy-damaging small fields in novice-chases
and it could soon be time for something radical."

J MARGARET CLARKE TURFCALL
Dangerous indeed for BHA bloodhorse illiterate people to attempt a 'radical cure'
on what they see to be 'novice chaser' shortage.

BHA need to seek the guidance of Group 1 status licensed jumps trainers' to name just a few here eg:

What stepping stones did Henrietta Knight choose in the early days with BEST MATE? And at present with SOTHERBY? Did she find it difficult to find suitable novice chase races?

What stepping stones did Paul Nicholls choose in the early days for KEATO STAR?

What stepping stones did Nicky Henderson choose in the early days for LONG RUN?

What stepping stones does Jonjo O'Neill choose in the early days for his novice chasers ?

What stepping stones does Ferdy Murphy choose in the early days for his novice chasers?

What novice chase races are available at present for all licensed jumps trainers of Group 1 status?'

What novice chases' do BHA provide at present for novice chasers' to ensure that these young horses have the chance to start out safely, and to gain the right kind of race experience ....

"There will no longer be top chasers' if bloodhorse illiterate BHA authority are bent on taking what they term as 'radical cure' over novice chases.....

It wasn't long ago that Jonjo O'Neill and Paul Nicholls requested that the BHA remove a fence on a racecourse that was causing falls. How did the BHA respond to their request?  BHA ignored their plea.
