PERSPECTIVE - enough is enough  - especially as BLACK CAVIAR has undergone such a long journey over from Melbourne Australia to compete in the Diamond Jubilee, together with all her Team of Minders. A massive task for all including BLACK CAVIAR.

What LUKE NOLEN did not know was how fast the two French horses were closing, causing the crowds watching to panic.

MICKAEL BARAZALONA has said he will never repeat his emotional reaction again.

Strangely enough the way that Queen Anne was treated way back in 1711, the very reason why it was touch and go that Royal Ascot Racecourse ever came to be ....
QUEEN ANNE in 1711 was dominated by others, others who did not have her best true interests at heart, factually the very opposite . Others who considered it unthinkable for a Queen to spend money on a racecourse. Ascot Racecourse that Queen Anne paid
£558 19s 5p for, as lodged at the Public Record Office.

RELIEF etched across his face in an ear-to-ear grin, an inspired Frankie Dettori claimed a dramatic Gold Cup in a driving finish as Colour Vision came off best from Opinion Poll in a Godolphin one-two - but not until he had survived a stewards' inquiry.


Saddler's Rock took third place a further neck behind the 6-1 winner, but odds-on favourite Fame And Glory was a bitter disappointment, coming home down the field as if something was amiss.

Sir Henry Cecil has this to say about Noble Mission " Being a full brother to Frankel it was inevitable that he would be the subject of a great deal of expectation . He is a lovely colt in his own right and unfortunately having sore shins we only managed to get one run into him last backend as a two year old. On the day of his race at Yarmouth the heavens opened and the ground rode very soft. Understandably he got a bit tired in that ground, but I was very happy with the effort.



"He has done very well physically since that race and I hope he will be ready to run at Newmarket next month, Although his brother has shown such brilliance over a mile I will start NOBLE MISSION off over 1m2f. He will be given all the big entries and I hope he could stay im4f. At the moment he is working on the all-weather, but I don't let them down on that surface so all we learn whether they are fit and well. I am very happy with him and hopefully he will go on to better things." (april 2012)

RACING: ANYONE DOUBTING Frankie Dettori’s appetite for more big-race glory were left in no doubt of the Italian’s hunger as he gave Colour Vision a power-packed ride to lift the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot yesterday.

In doing so the pair saw off fellow Godolphin runner Opinion Poll, ridden by rising star Mickael Barzalona, and survived a stewards’ inquiry after the two horses came close together in the finish.

Dettori had to choose between Colour Vision and Opinion Poll earlier this week and many saw it as a surprise when he sided with Saeed bin Suroor’s charge

"Mick Fitzgerald, one of the most successful jump jockeys of all time, announced his retirement yesterday, four months after suffering serious neck injuries in a fall in the Grand National at Aintree.

Fitzgerald, 38, rode his first winner in 1988 and steered home the 1,000th of his career as long ago as 2003. His many big-race victories included the Cheltenham Gold Cup on See More Business in 1999 and the 1996 Grand National on Rough Quest, while he was the top jockey at the Cheltenham Festival in 1999 and 2000.

"It is hard to swallow when you finally realise it is the end," Fitzgerald said yesterday, "[but] in many ways I'm lucky, really. I smashed four vertebrae in my neck from the C6 up to C3, they were fairly badly damaged . . . and two of them had penetrated my spinal cord. There's not a lot of flexibility there now, so [if I have] another fall the consequences could be pretty catastrophic.

"I've been so lucky to be associated with a lot of good horses. Growing up as a kid, the dream was always to win a race at the Festival and that dream was realised in 1994 when I won the Cathcart on Raymylette. He is always going to have a very special place in my heart. Then there is See More Business, who won the King George and the Gold Cup for me."

Willie Bloodhorse Literate achiever in his own right  
Carson had a long association with trainer Major Dick Hern for whom he rode his first three Derby winners. Five feet tall and riding at an easily maintained weight of 7 stone 10 pounds (49 kg) Carson was much in demand as a jockey up to his retirement in 1996 at the age of 54.

Trainer of CHACHAMAIDEE Sir Henry Cecil, Team Cecil  tells us "She did very well last year,winning twice, including the Group 3 Oak Tree Stakes at Goodwood, as well as finishing in the first three in her other five races. She will be aimed at black-typed races against her own sex.

"She has done very well over the winter and is one of those animals you need in a yard such as ours. Although she has only won first prize- money of over £60,000, her place money takes her total up to £170,000 and you have to have this money.

"Last year five of my horses earned £2.25m in prize - money and she was one of that quintet. Winning good prize-money is so important, and even when not winning she was picking up seriously good place money which played a huge part in our end-of-season standing. If you look at most of the run-of-the-mill races they are worth around £3,000 and you would need to win 15 of those for one race at the level she competes."

Again a very interesting race for two year old fillies, with  26 down to run. Mostly all have limited experience, just starting out on the racing road. With so much to learn. It is how they learn it that is so crucial.


Yesterday FRANKEL showed us all what true bloodhorse literacy is all about. That FRANKEL has come through all his prep, his racing prep to date from a yearling, to a two year old, a three year old and now as a four year old, unbeaten. But there were issues, significant issues that needed attention, close bloodhorse literate attention. The same sort of issues that BORN TO SEA is having at present himself. How to overcome the boiling over zone ... when first new to action on the racecourse actually racing.


Yesterday we see BORN TO SEA attempting his fifth start along his racing road. A racing road that leads to several issues needing careful  bloodhorse literate handling. Issues that are not quickly rectified, BORN TO SEA his third start yesterday as a three year old. He has settled down more, but he still doesn't realize when asked to quicken what he is supposed to do exactly. A very fine line in the sand, that can so easily go the wrong way.

"More than half a century of racing history will draw to a close later this year when the sport is broadcast on BBC television for the last time until at least 2017. Channel 4 will confirm on Monday that it has secured exclusive rights to all terrestrial racing coverage from 2013, including the Derby, Grand National and Royal Ascot, in a four-year deal believed to be worth between £15m and £20m."
