CLASSIC WINNING trainer Ralph Beckett
has elaborated on a plan he believes
will force riders in Britain to think
again before they breach whip rules,
helping to radically reduce the number of
whip related bans.
After widespread criticism of Christophe Soummillon’s use of the
whip on
Thunder Snow in the Breeders’ Cup this month and following
six jockeys in the
Melbourne Cup being sanctioned for whip offences,
the whip in racing has been
making headlines across the globe,
including in South Africa where a trial of
whip- free races has
already begun.
JMC: Throughout our world of horseracing, where we are now,
it is dreadfully unfair and highly dangerous on all licensed bloodhorse
literate copyright handler/rider/jockeys to be expected to ride to suite
bloodhorse illiterate owners, regulators, racecourse stewards and all
officials. To include surviving and keeping all rules. A totally
impossible task, how ever have they all managed too survive
and keep this sport going to date, one is left to wonder in total
