JMC: THE SECOND INTERESTING CAREER STEP TAKEN BY HAYLEY TURNER.
TURNER grew up in north Nottinghamshire. Her first ride in public was on Markellis at Southwell on 27 March 2000. Her first winning ride was on Generate at Pontefract on 4 June 2000. She rode her first Group winner on Lady Deauville in the Lando-Trophy in Germany on 16 November 2008.
Turner has ridden winners for a great deal of trainers but is best known for her ongoing and successful association with Newmarket based Derby winning trainer Michael Bell, with whom she was apprenticed in 2005 when winning the Champion Apprentice title. She was joint Champion Apprentice with Saleem Golam with 44 winners in 2005. Since then she has silenced the doubters by bucking the trend of champion apprentices subsequently struggling with their careers by going from success to success[peacock term]. She was voted as Channel 4's Racing Personality for 2008.

teams robbed by Tory government of their "True Career Copyright Rating" inclusive and dependant upon the wage for skills achieved according to that rating. Decent skills need to be properly recognised and paid for.
(a) 2001 - 2016 Meagre levels of pay Government and Racecourses dictate that highly skilled horsemen are only to be paid the minimum wage.
(b) 2001 - 2016 Scant recognition or reward, political and legal ignorance dictates these highly skilled horsemen and horsewomen find themselves locked into a dishonest British political government poverty trap.
(c) In many cases nil to poor accommodation.
(d) 2001 - 2016. Long hours and very little time off - top horsemen to be treated like slaves unrecognised for their skills.
( e) 2001 - 2016 Inconsistent levels of training for youngsters starting out, no backup support in place, no true career structure in place, no wage
structure for skills achieved.
(f) 2001 - No obvious career development structure - 2013 polical ignorance denies a true Equis Zone facility in a pioneering global sport.
(g) 2001 - Trainers left to fund the lot whilst other sections of the industry take all the benefits and cream off most of the profits - 2013 political theft and negligence on a massive scale in a highly dangerous sport.
(h) All skilled work riders, yearling and two year old handlers and riders at the top of their profession, at present seriously overworked, and grossly underpaid, unrecognised in the main for most of their fantastic achievements. Now in an ever decreasing minority due to being unable to continue to live on such poor pay. To ask them further to take the learners under their wing allotted to the trainers teams for work experience, must surely be not only unacceptable, but grossly unfair to all parties including the horses.

Clive Brittain sets out in his book The Smiling Pioneer, various owner perspectives. Now in September 2016 these owners need to make the human rights effort to recognise their racehorse in training has his/her own human rights to mind. All owners need to step-up, not down to meet the true bloodhorse literate reality perspective relative to this sport.
