Saturday's musings from a retired racing enthusiast.

DAVID'S SATURDAY MUSINGS

“I predict a riot if Red lifts Dubai World Cup.”

Pic:  “Mr Ashford’s EASTER STORY.”

“I’m hoping an Easter egg is on it’s way, possibly to a Mr Ashford or even Mr Ashforth. “

“EASTER already? I know it is because Waitross sent me an Easter card. I’m hoping that an Easter egg is on it’s way, possibly for Mr Ashcroft or Mr Ashworth.

“It’s a strange thing, Easter. As you know, Easter Sunday is the first Sunday after the paschal full moon is different from the actual full moon and moves around a lot, creating havoc with the production of racing fixtures and Easter eggs.

“You’d have thought that if Jesus was born on a particular day, December 25th he’d have died and been resurrected on particular days too, but he seems to have risen again on various dates, from March 22 to April 25.

“You never know when he is going to pop up. I hope that isn’t blasphemous, probably unlike the boy at my school who used to walk around with his arms spread out, saying “What a way to spend Easter.”

JMC The Life & Times of Jesus Christ. The shocking cruelty burdened upon and suffered by Jesus. How far have we come since? Not far in the cruelty stakes. The punishment stakes.

The four gospels report that Jesus was crucified by Pontius Pilate, who governed Roman Judea from 26 to 36 AD/CE .

Isaac Newton was one of the first astronomers to estimate the date of the crucifixion and suggested Friday, April 3, 34 AD/CE.[40][76] In 1990 astronomer Bradley E. Schaefer computed the date as Friday, April 3, 33 AD/CE.[77] In 1991, John Pratt stated that Newton's method was sound, but included a minor error at the end. Pratt suggested the year 33 AD/CE as the answer.[40] Using the completely different approach of a lunar eclipse model, Humphreys and Waddington arrived at the conclusion that Friday, April 3, 33 AD/CE was the date of the crucifixion.[78][41][79]

I don’t envy Paul Bittar if he’s still leading the BHA in 2038, let alone 2285, because in 2038 Easter Sunday will be on April 25 and in 2285 on March 22. My advice is to resign in 2037, before Easter gets out of hand.

JMC The life and times of Paul Bittar
Bittar, 42, was born in Wagga Wagga, which is famous in racing as the birthplace of legendary jockey Scobie Breasley. He is the second Australian to take charge of the day-to-day running of British racing. Almost a decade ago, Greg Nichols stepped into the same role when the controlling body was operating under the name of the British Horseracing Board.

The stumbling block for Paul Bittar as is same for most of the others who regulate and govern British Horseracing is their 'Bloodhorse Illiteracy' . Paul does not belong in the Equus Zone. He does not know how to carry a whip, leave alone use one.  To attempt even to advise others on the subject.  A no, no, no. Advisors to deligate  within the Equus Zone

“With Easter such a moveable feast, it’s difficult to know when you can expect an Easter egg.

“To be on the safe side, it’s best to keep buying those small ones, wrapped in multi-coloured foil, with bright yellow centres, that sit on newsagents’ counters the whole year round.

Easter Eggs from other countries.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Easter_egg#Easter_eggs_from_different_countries

The History of Easter Eggs.

“They’re sickly sweet and the wrapper sticks to the egg  then to your fingers but, sometimes, it’s a case of any egg in a storm.

“As you’ll remember if you were at Cheltenham  for the Gold Cup in 1929 or 1930, or at Aintree for the 1929 Grand National, Easter Hero was one of the all-time great chasers.

“He strolled home in both Gold Cups and at Aintree he beat 64 rivals when carrying 12st 7lb. Unfortunately, there was a record 65th rival, the 100-1 winner Gregalach. There’s always something, isn’t there?

“There are plenty of horses in training named Easter something and you’d have thought at least one of them would be racing this weekend but none of them are.

“Instead, there are 22 horses, none of them with any connection to Easter (apart from LEVITATE), Contesting the William Hill Lincoln, as they were going to last Saturday until the weather forecaster stepped in.

“I offered my thoughts on the race last week and it’s not my fault if you didn’t read them. As our teachers used to say, I’m not going to tell you again.

“Anyway, there’s the Dubai World Cup to consider, a splendid race which I thought I’d cracked until they abandoned dirt in favour of Tapeta – an altogether trickier proposition from an American perspective.

“How would the mighty CIGAR, winner of the inaugural running of the World Cup in 1996, have fared on Tapeta?

“Last year Bob Baffert had a heart attack in Dubai a few days before his GAME ON DUDE finished 12th of 13 in the World Cup, so perhaps it’s not surprising this year he’s left it to Bill Mott, Dale Romans and the once English Graham Motion to fly the US flag.

" I expect Mott's ROYAL DELTA to fly it better this time than she did last time. So a little each-way on ROYAL DELTA, followed by the most enormous lay bet on RED CADEAUX, at 25-1; £4,000 to lose £100,000, shall we say?

" RED CADEAUX is a terrific racehorse, high class and versatile, at distances from 12 furlongs to 18 furlongs but 10 furlongs is a step too far, by which I mean not far enough. Ed Dunlop's great servant will run respectably but there's no way he'll win.

"If he does, I suggest the Indian approach and rioting until the stewards declare RED CADEAUX a non-runner. It's an interesting idea, as is the Cypriot approach to bank deposits, which has attracted a lot of criticism but has some merit. If the British banks had refused access to our money, and taken some of it as a sort of service charge, think how much healthier most of our betting records would look.

"Whatever happens at Meydan, I do hope I get one of those Easter eggs, preferably with Smarties or chocolate drops in them, and loose, not in a packet. We can dream."

FIRST IN A WEEKLY SERIES

THE THURSDAY REPORT
A new weekly focus on the big issues in racing starts with David Ashforth on an unusual bid to lift the fortunes of a struggling rural track.

"Lord  Hesketh is a maverick who inherited a large fortune and, with many engaging episodes along the way, has converted it into a smaller fortune.

THE FIGHT IS ON TO SAVE TOWCESTER RACECOURSE

David Ashforth and Graham Green on the plight of troubled Towcester.

"BOX-HOLDERS in the Queen Mother stand at Cheltenham are considering applying for the building to be granted listed status in a bid to thwart its demolition as part of the course's £40 million development plans, writes Graham Green.
"There was speculation that today's presentation by the Prestbury Park management on the scheme's progress could be marked by protests and feelings are running high among long - standing members that they are being victimized, despite their families supporting the track when it was not the money- spinner for Jockey Club Racecourses that it is today.
"Details of how the cost of the development, which is expected to increase the capacity by at least 10,000. will be met have still to be announced, but among the options are bank loans, long-term debentures, or a bond scheme for wealthy owners.

JMC A truly charming country racecourse. No way can this historic racecourse be shunted off to the rubbish dump. Especially now that horseracing pioneering is finding a market all of it's very own within an Equus Zone that has remained hidden and ignored for so long. Like finding the Crown Jewel's all at once. Like "The answer was there all the time sort of thing." Also looks like this project will if needs be qualify for a Lottery Grant.

STARK CRUEL GOVERNMENT THEORY

BBC BREAKFAST THIS MORNING BROUGHT TO US
BY CHARLIE STAYT AND NAGA MUNCHETTY

J Margaret Clarke Turfcall Comment

Following along in tune with BBC Breakfast theme on true caring in "Practice."
How Government's  are acting in Theory but not in Practice how Government's have and are throwing other people's lives away every single  day.

What does Hunt know himself about true caring of the sick in practice? He is hardly a Mother Teresa, or a Princess Diana.

The male gender have been brought up over decades, bullied and order dictate not to cry. What sort of bringing up is this?

Health Secretary Jeremy Hunt

Jeremy Hunt was appointed Health Secretary in a cabinet reshuffle on 4 September 2012, succeeding Andrew Lansley.[36]He described the appointment as "huge task and the biggest privilege of my life".

The chair of the British Medical Association, Dr Mark Porter, said "The appointment of a new Health Secretary provides a fresh opportunity for doctors and government to work together to improve patient care and deal with the many challenges facing the NHS."[37]The deputy chairman of the same association, Dr Kailash Chand, said "Jeremy Hunt is new Health Secretary – disaster in the NHS carries on. I fear a more toxic right winger to follow the privatisation agenda."[38]

The Daily Telegraph science correspondent Tom Chivers expressed concern that Hunt is known to support homeopathy.[39]

In an interview with The Times in October 2012, Hunt said that he was in favour of reducing the abortion limit from 24 weeks to 12 weeks.[40]
The British public are paying Hunt's wages so we are all entitled to know what we are paying him each week/month/year. What bonus's are there for politicians? Are they similar to Bankers' Bonuses? In the present financial situation no one is entitled to any bonus.

We are not all in this together as we are being dishonestly led to believe by government in any way at all.

Jeremy Hunt CV where is it? The public are entitled to know the full detail on Hunt's CV. The British public are also entitled to know who Hunt's Team are? Are they also only able to act in Theory?
IN THEORY

IN PRACTICE

Team Hunt are they all restricted to the Theory Zone?
Who is acting upsides Hunt in the Practical Zone?
Who is acting upsides each Theory member of Hunt's Team in Practice?
