LEE MOTTERSHEAD "LYNCH CONFIDENT OF SIZING SUCCESS
"ANDREW LYNCH is convinced the trip, track and ground will all be conducive to SIZING EUROPE producing a peak-form performance at Sandown on Saturday - and that, the rider believes, should be good enough to ensure the sport's top two-miler posts another major victory in the Sportingbet Tingle Creek Chase.

"The rampant five-length winner of last season's Sportingbet Queen Elizabeth Champion Chase  has raced over longer distances in his two starts this winter, most recently displaying impressive versatility  with an excellent second to QUITO DE LA ROQUE over Down Royal's gruelling  3m track. That effort came on soft ground, far removed from the good going on which QUITO DE LA ROQUE excelled at Cheltenham in March. If rain forecasts  for Sandown are accurate, he could face conditions somewhere in between  when seeking to justify clear favouritism on Saturday.
"The Sandown chase course was last night officially  described as good. It's an exciting race to be involved in, said LYNCH, "He's dropping back to two miles, the distance he is proven over, and you would have to think if he shows best form he should win. As he is so good and honest he can be competitive over any trip, but a good strong gallop over two miles is ideal for him and Sandown is a stiff two miles, like Cheltenham, and that will really suit him.

"Also happy going to Sandown is Paul Nicholls, who will be seeking  a seventh  consecutive Tingle Creek triumph with TATANIANO."
"THE TINGLE CREEK is the latest highlight for Channel 4, which yesterday reported their last two Saturday features, the Betfair Chase and Hennessy Gold Cup, achieved peak viewing figures of 997,000 and 923,000. A Channel 4 spokesperson said "We are delighted with the strong figures, which prove there is a real audience for top-quality jump racing."

COULD WE BE IN FOR A GOLDEN AGE FOR NOVICE CHASERS?
Racing Post Handicapper  STEVE MASON assesses the talent  among
the new chasing  crop.
SIX CANDIDATES WHO MIGHT BE DESTINED FOR GREATNESS . ....
EARLY  INDICATIONS SUGGEST IT WILL BE A VINTAGE SEASON
RICHARD BIRCH "IT MIGHT be a tad premature to hail a new 'golden generation', but there can be no doubt the current crop of novice chasers will continue to leave hearts racing over the next few months.
"One of the most interesting features of any jumps season is how well the top hurdlers from previous years transfer their prowess to fences,  and the big Cheltenham Festival talking points among punters at present are the destination of the trophies for the Irish Independent Arkle Chase and RSA Chase - the premier novice events over two miles and three miles - next March.

HOWARD WRIGHT GREAT LEIGHS SOLD  "Fresh hope for defunct track.
"NEW HOPE as Great Leighs finds owner. Initial approach for BHA license likely in January but major obstacles remain.
"The possible revival of Great Leighs racecourse , which is approaching the third anniversary of it's closure, has taken a step forward after the exchange of contracts with a new purchaser.

"West Register, the distressed  property subsidiary of the Royal Bank of Scotland, revealed yesterday it had concluded negotiations with MC Racetracks Ltd, which took occupancy of the Essex site at the start of the week.  ...... All of the buildings are structurally sound but they have suffered a bit of wear and tear over the past few years. The major project will be the construction of a hospitality complex next year and then a state-of-the-art grandstand in 2014."
"The emergence of a new owner suggests that previous  barriers to a sale, notably involving land, access and rights belonging to Great Leighs founder and inaugural chairman John Holmes and his family and associates, have been cleared."
