FOCUS ON 2012 A BIG YEAR FOR FALLON
OUR WEEK-LONG SERIES CONTINUES with STEVE analysing why a 46-year-old would try to claim a seventh Flat jockeys' title.
"IT is a young man's game these days, which makes it all the more notable that one of the finest exponents of the modern art of race-riding will be 47 next month and seemingly as tireless as a man half his age."
J MARGARET CLARKE TURFCALL
STEVE is right, it is a young man's game. A young person who wishes to try a career in horseracing needs to start long before leaving school. There are not many who have achieved what Kieren has achieved in his lifetime. Whether he succeeds in winning his seventh Flat title or not, he has throughout his lifetime to date already achieved a vast amount of experience along the way, he is among the elite few top professional handler riders who have ever walked on the face of this earth. He has not had an easy journey, baulked, abused and misunderstood by the bloodhorse illiterate. Any one exploring, adventuring into the sport of horseracing world wide now, might well engage in a project to FOLLOW FALLEN throughout his 2012 Flat campaign.
