MEEHAN MACHINE? Brian Meehan's MOST IMPROVED as the best - backed Classic hope of the winter takes centre stage at Newmarket in the 4.10 Coventry Stakes.

[1] Horsepower was originally defined to compare the output of steam engines with the power of draft horses in continuous operation.

RICHARD HANNON  who scored yesterday in the Nell Gwyn fillies Classic with ESENTEPE (IRE) 28-1 in a very close finish nk from NAYARRA, LILY'S ANGEL, STARSCOPE. http://www.racingpost.com/horses2/results/home.sd?r_date=2012-04-18

RICHARD HANNON has three runners this afternoon in the Craven colts Classic TRUMPET MAJOR, CAMPANOLOGY and CRIUS, and says  "TRUMPET will make them all go ...."

Good 1m Number of runners: 13

WIN TRUMPET MAJOR (IRE) 3 9-1 partner RYAN MOORE handler presenter 'HOWARD' RATHORE trainer Richard Hannon for John Manley breeder John Cullinan distance 5 lengths at 9-2 from CRIUS 4-1. 3rd EASTERN SUN 6-1

PRICEWISE will have taken a much closer look at the connections behind each colt due to challenge for this race this afternoon, and has this to say:
MOST IMPROVED NON RUNNER
"FOR the last few weeks the talk of the Flat racing scene has been dominated by two horses - the mighty FRANKEL and Brian Meehan's 2,000 Guineas hope MOST IMPROVED.

"Today is D-day for MOST IMPROVED partner this afternoon KIEREN FALLON (11-10 fav am.) as he runs in the Novae Bloodstock Insurance Craven Stakes (4.10) at Newmarket and if he is to have a chance in the Qipco -sponsored Classic a fortnight on Saturday, then he has to win this today.

"While he looks a very skinny price for the 2,000, MOST IMPROVED is still the form horse for today's race as he did run a cracker when third in the Dewhurst and he is the type to improve markedly from two to three. Given the good recent form of the Meehan yard, I would have thought MOST IMPROVED would be pretty straight and provided his widish draw isn't an inconvenience, I expect him to win this and be a player in the Guineas. TRUMPET MAJOR (6-1 am) is the danger on form."

J MARGARET CLARKE TURFCALL YESTERDAY'S QUESTION -
WHAT EXACTLY IS BLOODHORSE LITERACY ?
On the world horseracing stage Ireland (Joseph O'Brien) France (Mickael Barzalona) and Dubai (Frankie Dettori) are more advanced in the Bloodhorse Literacy Stakes than Britain. Although historically we are led to believe that it was Britain who first staged horseracing.

NEWMARKET has a rich history, with the town as we know it today dating back to 1200. Its royal history in the 17th century saw it play an integral role of the lives of James I, who built the first grandstand on Newmarket Heath, Charles I, who was in residence here when the English Civil War became an inevitability, and in particular Charles II, during whose reign the entire court would relocate to Newmarket twice a year. What remains of his royal palace, Palace House, can still be found in the town today.

This fabulous oil painting shows that Charles 1 was almost certainly bloodhorse literate. The pose of this horse caught in the moment shows a complete empathy between horse and rider, a knowing, an understanding, a true unbreakable confidence, that is the hallmark of bloodhorse literacy.

CHARLES II
It was Charles II who did more than any other monarch to advance the sport of horseracing in this country - he instituted by Act of Parliament in 1665 the first race to be run in Britain under written rules and exported the name of Newmarket and the sport of horseracing to America that same year - and his love affair with Newmarket (not to mention with his mistress in the town, Nell Gwyn!) is well chronicled.

Changes in an Ancient Sport CHARLES 11

The lead equestrian statue of King Charles II, is the oldest statue in Edinburgh, and one of the oldest lead statues in Britain. It was erected in 1685 at the expense of the Edinburgh Town Council as a tribute to King Charles II, "formed in the Roman manner, like one of the Caesars"

JMC BLOODHORSE LITERACY is luminated by the horse. It is the horse who shows whether his handler rider is bloodhorse literate or not as the case maybe.

A highly intelligent British bloodhorse literate handler rider

CHILD LITERACY is luminated by the child. It is the child who shows whether his parents are child literate or not as the case maybe.
Knowing already that dandilions are good for racehorses
In the first four years of a childs life .......
Children learn more than at any other time
in their lives, that is if they are allowed to ......

CAT LITERACY  is luminated by the cat.
It is the cat who shows whether his owner is cat literate or not as the case maybe .....

True bloodhorse literate horsemen are all minders, as they mind many things all at the same time to prevent causing accidents whilst handling and riding horses.
There have been many true bloodhorse literate handler riders down through the centuries in Britain but many have had the misfortune to be governed by bloodhorse illiterate government, and bloodhorse illiterate horseracing government, their talents therefore in the main whilst appreciated by the horses have gone unrecognised by the powers that be.
