Colour Vision leads home Godolphin Gold Cup 1-2
Report: Royal Ascot, Thursday
3.45 Gold Cup (Group 1) 2m4f, 4yo+

RELIEF etched across his face in an ear-to-ear grin, an inspired Frankie Dettori claimed a dramatic Gold Cup in a driving finish as Colour Vision came off best from Opinion Poll in a Godolphin one-two - but not until he had survived a stewards' inquiry.

Saddler's Rock took third place a further neck behind the 6-1 winner, but odds-on favourite Fame And Glory was a bitter disappointment, coming home down the field as if something was amiss.

NOBLE MISSION a full brother to FRANKEL
bc Galileo - Kind

Sir Henry Cecil has this to say about Noble Mission " Being a full brother to Frankel it was inevitable that he would be the subject of a great deal of expectation . He is a lovely colt in his own right and unfortunately having sore shins we only managed to get one run into him last backend as a two year old. On the day of his race at Yarmouth the heavens opened and the ground rode very soft. Understandably he got a bit tired in that ground, but I was very happy with the effort.

"He has done very well physically since that race and I hope he will be ready to run at Newmarket next month, Although his brother has shown such brilliance over a mile I will start NOBLE MISSION off over 1m2f. He will be given all the big entries and I hope he could stay im4f. At the moment he is working on the all-weather, but I don't let them down on that surface so all we learn whether they are fit and well. I am very happy with him and hopefully he will go on to better things." (april 2012)

NOBLE MISSION partner TOM QUEALLY  this afternoon, Sir Henry also runs THOMAS CHIPPENDALE in this to be partnered by  J MURTAGH, with John Gosden
fielding two as well, THOUGHT WORTHY to be partnered by FRANKIE DETTORI and SHANTARAM to be partnered by WILLIAM BUICK. It was THOUGHT WORTHY receiving 5lb's who just edged off NOBLE MISSION at Newmarket two weeks ago over 1m2f. A fascinating race in prospect to observe closelyLevel weights today. The money looks to be coming for ASTROLOGY partner RYAN MOORE trainer Aidan O'Brien.

Will HOMECOMING QUEEN partner JOSEPH O'BRIEN be travelling home to Ireland this evening triumphant again?  Will she find turf conditions this afternoon stated to be good to soft, to suit?

MAXIME GUYON comes over from France and will partner BUGIE D'AMORE for A de Royer -Dupre. Fourth to LAUGH OUT LOUD at Chantilly recently, but just how good  is she ? She had five runs as a 2 year old winning twice.

John Gosden runs three. Mick Channon puts FRANKIE DETTORI up on LAUGH OUT LOUD. There you have it, what an exciting race, but how difficult could it prove to be to find the winner?

RACING: ANYONE DOUBTING Frankie Dettori’s appetite for more big-race glory were left in no doubt of the Italian’s hunger as he gave Colour Vision a power-packed ride to lift the Gold Cup at Royal Ascot yesterday.

In doing so the pair saw off fellow Godolphin runner Opinion Poll, ridden by rising star Mickael Barzalona, and survived a stewards’ inquiry after the two horses came close together in the finish.

Dettori had to choose between Colour Vision and Opinion Poll earlier this week and many saw it as a surprise when he sided with Saeed bin Suroor’s charge
