"Murtagh calls time on glittering career
NEWS: "Jonathan Mullin brings news: "JOHNNY MURTAGH who built a career as a jockey on winning big races,  is in focus 100 per cent on his second career as a trainer after he yesterday stunned the racing world by announcing his retirement from the saddle at the age of 43.
 
"Murtagh bows out after an incredible career spanning  26 seasons and culminating in 106 victories at the highest level.
"I'm very clear in my mind this is the right decision and I have to begin the next chapter in my life now," Murtagh said. "
