"He stated directly his desire to put me out of racing indefinitely" .

Michael Vincent O'Brien (9 April 1917 - 1 June 2009) was an Irish race horse trainer from Churchtown, County Cork, Ireland. In 2003 he was voted the greatest influence in horse racing history, according to a worldwide poll hosted by the Racing Post newspaper. In separate earlier Racing Post polls he was voted the best ever trainer of national huntand of flat racehorses. He trained six horses to win the Epsom Derby, was twice British champion trainer, won three Grand Nationals in succession and trained the only British Triple Crown winner since the 2nd World War, to name but a few of his many achievements. O'Brien was not related to Aidan O'Brien, who took over the Ballydoyle stables after his retirement.

( ATR: 'At The Races'. British Horseracing Broadcaster)
Jason Weaver (born 9 February 1972) is a former British flat racing jockey who had much of his major success in the mid-1990s. In total, Weaver rode more than 1,000 winners in a career which spanned fourteen years.[1]

Jason began his career as a 16-year-old apprentice to Luca Cumani (GB) (Newmarket) and became champion apprentice in 1993 with 60 winners. A little bit earlier Frankie Dettori also
apprentice to Luca Cumani won the champion apprentice title in 1989.

Both Jason Weaver and Frankie Dettori on leaving school wasted no time choosing their careers. Both achieved massive success at a very young age.

Aloft among US Triple Crown nominations
By James Burn
"RACING POST TROPHY runner-up Aloft features among five nominations from Ireland's champion trainer Aidan O'Brien for this year's US Triple Crown.
Race replay: Racing Post Trophy, Doncaster, Saturday 25-10-14
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L26QLL6wdcg

"O'Brien has five of the 429 early entries for the Triple Crown 2015, which has not been won since 1978 when Affirmed triumphed.

"Aloft, second to Elm Park in the Doncaster Group 1 last October, is joined by Battle Of Marathon, War Envoy, Smuggler's Cove and Royal Navy Ship.

"Nominations for the Triple Crown are up 15 from last year and are the most since 2008, when 460 horses were engaged.

"They also include four possible from the yard of Dermot Weld, who saddled Go And Go to land the third leg, the Belmont Stakes, in 1990. He is represented  by Don Camillo, Sight Hound, Time To Inspire and Tombelaine, while John Oxx has entered an unnamed colt out of Kamarinskaya.

"Godolphin's challengers include Tempus Temporic (trained by John Gosden) and Maftool (Saeed Bin Suroor). Todd Pletcher has 34 of the entries-the most of any trainer- while Bob Baffert has 15, including Kentucky Derby anti-post favourite American Pharoah .

"The Triple Crown starts with the Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs on May 2, followed by the Preakness at Pimlico on May 16 and the Belmont on June 6.

"War makes flying start.
"Coolmore's Kentucky Derby entry The Great War (Wesley Ward. Albin Jimenez) made no mistake at odds at 1-10 with an eye catching US debut as he strode away with a minor $75,000 stakes race on the Turfway Polytrack on Saturday.

"Carrying the Michael Tabor silks, the former Aidan O'Brien-trained colt was taken on up front by Serious Talk in the early stages before taking command on the home turn and drawing away under no semblance of pressure to score by more than seven lengths.

"He scored in a time of 1min 18.65secs for the 6and half furlongs. A three-time winner from eight starts, the son of War Front was running for the first time since coming fourth in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile on dirt. "

"O'Donoghue out of luck
"COLM O'DONOGHUE finished second on Tiger Tops as favourite Be Safe won the Indian Derby at Mahalaxmi racecourse yesterday.

"The Ballydoyle rider, who landed India's most prestigious race on Diabolical eight years ago, had to settle for second best as Be Safe, trained by Malesh Narredu clocked a record time. "I have ridden many champions but Be Safe is a legend, " said jockey Suraj Narredu. "

List of abattoirs in the UK

Abattoirs (also known as slaughterhouses) in the UK have tended to be somewhat secretive about their activities, mainly due to fear of animal rights campaigners. Also, the general public are generally squeamish about meat production.
