BHA defends whip rules after York Case:
Published Wednesday August 26 p4:
By Graham Green

“THE BHA is content with how the whip rules are working, despite yesterday expressing disappointment with the 11 bans that cast the only shadow over an otherwise successful Ebor meeting at York last week.

“In yesterday’s Racing Post, former Channel 4 Racing producer Andrew Franklin and columnist Alastair Down highlighted the flurry of offences as evident jockeys are continuing to exhibit a win-at-all-costs mentality in races that carry good prize money.

“BHA spokesman Robin Mounsey said: “the increased number of suspensions incurred at York ‘s Ebor meeting compared to last year [five] years has been noted and is disappointing. However, it’s not reflective of the overall trend TREND toward whip use at present.

“On the whole we remain satisfied with the current rules and the manner in which they are being adhered to by the riders and enforced by the stewards.
“It remains the case that whip offences are down by almost 40 per cent compared to 2011, prior to the introduction of the new rules, and cases of interference have decreased by nearly 33 per cent compared to the same period.
“Also while York was disappointing, we at the same time look to Royal Ascot this year, where there were only five whip offences in the 30 races across the week.
“Mounsey added: “The challenge of the rules remains ensuring the penalty structure is both fair and appropriate while also providing an effective deterrent, especially in the more valuable races. On current  evidence, we believe this balance has been struck at present.  JMC: There have been "No True British Bloodhorse Literate Horseracing Rules, Especially Whip Rules and Interference Rules in place over the last seven decades, this remains to be the case to date [August 30, 2015] Fob-off  Bloodhorse Illiterate Whip Rules were illegally, fraudulently placed within the Rules of British  Horseracing in October 2011, only days before the very first British Qipco Champion's Day at Ascot.

TUESDAY AUGUST 25, RACING POST 2015. ALASTAIR DOWN PAGE 11 "WE ARE CURRENTLY TURNING A BLIND EYE TO A SITUATION WHERE THE WHIP RULES CAN EFFECTIVELY BE IGNORED. CERTAIN RACES CAN ADD MILLIONS TO THE VALUE OF A CHOICELY BRED WINNER. HOW MUCH DOES A SEVEN-DAY WHIP BAN MATTER UNDER SUCH CIRCUMSTANCES? ANSWER: NOT AT ALL. “ " .
“It is, however, something we constantly monitor, and should the deterrents begin to prove to be effective, and the statistics begin to support this, then it is a matter we can always return to in the future.” JMC:  Is it?  At who's expense? Or doesn't it matter about whose expense?   Who exactly are ' We?'
Are 'We Bloodhorse Literate? Or are 'We Bloodhorse Illiterate?'  Or a Miss- Mash of both perhaps? Fob-off - Bloodhorse - Illiterate - lip-service as usual, appears to be the order of the day. The order of the last seven decades. http://turfcall2-racingpost.blogspot.co.uk/2015/08/tuesday-august-25-racing-post-2015.html

PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
Racing Post Thursday August 27, 2015: Page 9.
Steve Dennis brings news:
"Desire for Lowther upgrade strikes a sour note."

"BARELY has the dust settled from another  absorbing 'festival' meeting than, as usual, the racecourse executive sets out ways in which the next rendition can be even bigger and better. Progress is an unceasing progress. "JMC: The frightening fact being it is 'bloodhorse illiterate' progress ... 'Bloodhorse illiterate' progress is not progress at all. The reason why Epsom Past, Present, Future is found to be in such dire straights now. A massive burden on all the ' true bloodhorse literate horsemen and horsewomen attempting to train racehorses on Epsom Downs now, an horrific nightmare would just about sum  it up. What right has any British government got to sacrifice British horseracing through their own cruel bloodhorse illiterate power abuse? Allowing such as this to be going on, in the first place?
