DOWN talks to Lady Lloyd-Webber, who is hoping for Classic glory with
THE FUGUE as well as having a family
interest with VOW.
(Racing Post Thursday May 31st 2012)
"RIGHT
at the beginning of the 1990's Andrew and Madeleine Lloyd Webber put much
thought and plenty of action into founding a couple of parallel dynasties.
"In
the space of a few years they had three foundation children and found four
foundation mares for their hugely successful Watership Down Stud , which has a
major chance of taking the Investic Oaks with THE FUGUE.
Madeleine
says "Having a filly like THE FUGUE in the Oaks is a bit like having an
Oscar nomination. We are hugely excited and, if we weren't, then we might as well pack up and
go home. In racing terms, Friday's race is a lot of what the last 20 years has
been about."
"My
one big worry is I bought my mum a Highclere share in VOW for her birthday and
I am not entirely sure about celebrating with her if VOW beats us!"
THE FUGUE is trained by the JOHN GOSDEN TEAM in Newmarket
