“POST WRITERS explain why Paris is the only place to be on the first weekend in October

DAVID CARR “ Stoute concern as fast-ground fears mount for WORKFORCE last year’s Arc hero eased for repeat as the mercury rises. Watering was taking place at Longchamp last night amid fears that the ground may be too quick for WORKFORCE  to bid for a historic second straight Qatar Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe victory on Sunday. The track was officially good to soft yesterday morning but temperatures reached 29C in Paris and the course was set to be watered again overnight, with an average of  5mm being applied. The aim is to provide good ground for tomorrow, while the rail will be moved out by 20m in the home straight to preserve fresh ground for Sunday.”
