INTERVIEW
DEREK AND HIS WIFE LYNDSEY SHAW TALK TO PETER THOMAS
"COPING WITH TRAGEDY, the tragedy that has transformed the lives of a couple who have been striving to build a successful stable to pass on to their daughter, and hears how they carry on in her memory. "IN ONE corner of Derek and Lyndsey Shaw's living room sits a tiny leather armchair dwarfed by the rest of the brown leather furniture but plenty big enough for the cuddly orange Tigger that's curled up on the cushion. Any minute now, you might expect an excited child to toddle across the room, sit down in her special seat with her favourite toy and join the conversation.
"For the Shaw's, however, such expectation is a distant memory. The little chair, once part of a circle of hopes and dreams, is now merely a poignant relic of happier days.

JULIAN MUSCAT “ROMANCE LIVES ON IN BEGUILING SHAPE OF OXX COLT.
“FOLLOWING the progress of a well-healed young racehorse makes romantics of us all. Such a horse comes to your attention in one of two ways: It either over takes trains on the gallops, or it is the product of illustrious parents.
“BORN TO SEA is a combination of both. John Oxx was anxious to supress expectations before the colt’s debut on Saturday, yet he started a well backed favourite for the Listed race and won as he liked.
“For that to happen BORN TO SEA must have been showing something at home. Countless siblings to stellar horses make anonymous racecourse debuts at long odds. In these instances money talks louder than words. The betting market is rarely taken by surprise ....... “
J MARGARET CLARKE TURFCALL
A ROMANCE? This is not a romance this is about caring for an animals needs and welfare at all times, at home where all the prep work is carried out, when travelling, when at a racecourse, and in the debut race, and in all further races. All this side of things really matter. If this is only half done a young colt or filly may never see a racecourse, leave alone compete in a race.
OXX, is well aware of the way horses can be hyped up, and hyped up as in this case even before a two year old has run even. Oxx has the responsibility to assure that BORN TO SEA’S daily welfare needs are in order and safe, both when travelling to a racecourse, when competing in a race, and at all times.
JOHN OXX is no ordinary trainer, he will be well up in the top ten on a world stats assessment rating, current now, relating to licensed trainers on a worldwide scale. He knows the swings and roundabouts of training horses. He knows that BORN TO SEA’S confidence needs to be developed, to be minded if he is to become a successful racehorse, to stand at stud, literately everything depends on how he is prepared every day, handled and ridden out every single day.
Bloodlines as URBAN SEA possessed and has proved she possessed, don’t come along often. eg: PERSIAN BOLD became well known for siring fillies, fillies who have performed well during their racing career, and have gone on and made further top broodmares. Bloodlines that have been distinctly proven over time. Bloodline Pioneer's to name only a few here COOLMORE, THE AGA KHAN, GODOLPHIN and PRINCE KHALID ABDULLAH. Why did COOLMORE purchase SO YOU THINK?

This documentary shows the results of abusing a thoroughbred horse bred for racing. How quickly an animal can get badly frightened by having around them people who are bloodhorse illiterate.
