BRIAN FLEMMING TODAY'S ACTION
BORN TO STAR? OXX PLAYS DOWN HYPE BUT REMAINS CONFIDENT.
"BORN TO SEA'S trainer John Oxx said yesterday he was rather bemused the colt was joint favourite at 6-1 with Paddy Power for the Qipco 2,000 Guineas before only his second run in this afternoon's Killavullan Stakes at Leopardstown. His lofty place in that Classic market upsides runaway Racing Post Trophy winner CAMELOT is due to his being a three-parts brother to SEA THE STARS, not to mention being a half-brother to GALILEO, as well as the impressive manner of his debut success in Listed company at the Curragh last month.

"Oxx said: "He wouldn't be there at the head of the Guineas market if he wasn't SEA THE STAR'S three-parts brother and if it was any other horse I suppose he would be a much bigger price."

"Facing six rivals in today's Group 3 over 7f, including three Aidan O'Brien -trained runners headed by last month's impressive Curragh  6f maiden winner NEPHRITE,  this test represents another step up in class, though Oxx is quietly confident. He added "We have to hope he might measure up to winning a good race in his life and that target (2,000 Guineas) is pretty obvious at this stage, but we'll take one race at a time with him. He has had a good preparation and things have gone well since the Curragh. We felt  it important to get another run, as the experience should help him."

"With duel scorer VAULT and DUNDALK sprint maiden winner ISHVANA also representing O'Brien, it should be a true-run contest. Aidan's PIVOTAL colt NEPHRITE was impressive when he won his maiden at the Curragh, so it promises to be a good race."
