BRITISH POLITICAL AND LEGAL JUSTICE SYSTEMS

CENTURIES OUT OF DATE AND TIME

J Margaret Clarke Turfcall comment
BBC 1 Andrew Marr Show this morning .

Guest presenter Eddie Mair is joined by singer Sinead O'Connor

Interview Duncan Smith

Focus
Ian Duncan Smith and the British political system.

Britain has an ancient stagnant British political system on the skids. Governments playing politics with other peoples lives, out of touch with every day workers, and every day life. Have no idea how 80 percent of British people live. A one way street, theirs.

British political system funded by the rich and privileged, to suit only the rich and privileged, with a British Legal Justice System to match up.

PS.  Get better soon Andrew we all need you.

"£400,000 accumulator scuppered as Plumpton abandons meeting.
Pic Francis Arinze: 80- year-old papal candidate

"AN INTERESTING week for the retired (sedentary division, armchair branch). Sunday. On Racing UK, and presumably at Exeter as well, novice hurdler Melodic Rendezvous shines again for cow handler Jeremy Scott. As the week will show, cows and horses are all too easily mistaken. Mind the one's with the horns David. Looks like soon courtesy of horseracing and political governments we will be watching the Cheltenham Gold Cup one day, and getting the winner served up for dinner the next.

"Another cattle man, Colin Tizzard, also scores with Theatrical Star ridden by his son Joe. I expect Joe was milking in the morning, he certainly used to. At Southwell, Kabbaas wins a 7f race by 20 lengths at 2-12. An easy £10,000, if you've got £120,000. I wonder how much you'd have been able to get on? And how, good question David.  John (Mac) McCririck punters champion wiz kid on all punter betting info, past and present will know these key facts past and present another book Mac? Another book David?  "Untold Punting Stories " Punters Zone maybe?
Cattle man Colin Tizzard (snr) and Joe Tizzard (jnr) right on CUE last Saturday with CUE CARD the best horse the Tizzards have at present Joe tells us.

"Monday. How lucky. How unlucky can you be? I was desperately close to winning 400 grand, thanks to a £10 win, seven-horse accumulator -Definite Ruby, Ohio Gold, Perit Ecuyer. Kuilsriver, Gandalfe, Prickles and Chill Factor - and then Plumpton was abandoned.

"It's difficult to get over a setback like that but at Catterick, Rapidolyte De Ladalka ( not many of those around) supplied a mild distraction, partly by being trained by Simon Shirley-Beavan (Simon and Shirley are a rare combination in one person) and partly by being well beaten and then winning easily (also a rare combination) in the same race.

"I don't know what Rapidolyte De Ladalka traded at on the exchanges when last and struggling, but it must have been a very long price. Knight Valliant, trained by Barbara Butterworth and ridden by Liz Butterworth, finished third at Catterick, which makes me wonder whether they are related to Peter Butterworth, the comic actor and member of the Carry On Team.

"Butterworth escaped from a prison camp in Germany during the second world war, but was recaptured by a member of the Hitler Youth, prompting him to declare that he would never work with children again, I don't suppose they are related.

"At Wolverhampton, Graham Lee, recently returned to the fray, rides his first winner in 2013 on Dashwood. Good. If you've got any sense (you may not have) you'll follow him.

"Tuesday. Extraordinary news. I was completely wrong. I thought when a Pope resigns, candidates to succeed him has to be at least 80 years old, but they don't. One of the favourites, Francis Arinze from Nigeria , is 80 but Marc Ouellet, from Canada, is only 68 and Peter Turkson, from Ghana, is just 64. It's a tricky one to call, especially as Arinze isn't eligible to vote. Cardinals can be candidates at any age but must be under 80 to vote.

"Even more extraordinary news. Peter Boddy's abattoir in Yorkshire has been raided in connection with the horsemeat saga. It was Peter Boddy, also from Yorkshire, who drove the horsebox carrying Flockton Grey, the infamous ringer, to Leicester racecourse in 1982.

"Peter Boddy (abattoir) and Peter Boddy (horsebox) would be about the same age. Are they one and the same? Further investigation reveals yjat the answer is (life is full of disappointments) no. The former Boddy is Peter Francis whereas the latter Boddy is Peter Ernest. Different bodies. Pity.

"There is another horsemeat connection. A few days earlier, Stephen Potter, of Bishop Sutton-based abattoir Lawrence J Potter, appeared in the Racing Post (February 6) to comment on the horsemeat situation. At that abattoir in 1978 the ringer In The Money was killed.
"Graham Lee rides a 24-1 double at Southwell.
Wednesday.Another shock. The Grand National weights are unveiled and Tom Segal, alias Pricewise, considers Tidal Bay"The standout horse in the race" at 20-1. Granted, Segal has a history of winning horses rather than losing them and, as usual, presents a (seemingly) sound case.

"Unfortunately, he has overlooked the temporarily dormant kink in Tidal Bay's brain which, when faced by the Grand National course, albeit much modified, will reawaken to see him sulk and slouch at the back until pulled up. Also, the fact he is about to be injured.

"Southwell is covered in snow. The snow must go on! (I know, terrible). Alpha Tauri and Point North cut each other's throats, metaphorically speaking, going fast to start and, consiquently, slow to finish.

"At Kempton, there are two dead-heats - one between Landesherr and Spirit Of Gondree for third place - and the other between Katy Spirit and Indian Affair for first place. How rare is that? (Very).

"Thursday. Off to London to see Rowen Atkinson in Quartermaine's Terms. Kick-off is 2.30pm, just before the BetVictor Morebattle Hurdle at Kelso. The play lasts two and a half hours, which sees off almost everything at Kelso, Thurles, Maydan, and the first at Kempton. I don't suppose they'd consider scrapping the interval, which would just bring the Rock Of Cashel Handicap Chase at Thurles into play? Life will go on, I suppose. Yes, yes yes, very good cheer up medicine. The amazing talant of comedians Rowen Atkinson,  Frankie Howard, the Two Ronnies, how do they do it?
"Friday. Think what to write. Write this."
