“NOT for the first time, the mind boggles.
“The blocking of access to the sport’s main
administration website on Friday morning once again highlighted a truly bizarre
attitude that is hard to understand and
even harder to defend.
“Between 10.00am and 11.00am, when the BHA without
warning limited use of the Weatherbys-managed facility only to trainers and
jockeys infuriating owners in the process, there is generally considerable
discussion and debate on social forums, principally Twitter, about the line-ups
in any notable races for which declarations have been made. Most observers
would surely consider that to be a good thing for racing.
“Not so the BHA and those linked to the Racecourse
Data Company that presumably requests, or at the very least supported, the
governing body’s Friday action.
“The BHA government said it had “concerns” about how
the website is being used, but how could anyone with racing’s best interests at
heart be concerned about Racing Admin being used to generate online
conversation about racing?
“There are times when the value of something lies
not so much in costs to use it but through the wider benefit gained from it
being used. Regrettably, there are
senior racing executives who all too often understand the price of everything
but the value of nothing. That short-sighted and dangerous approach was very
much evident here.
“The great danger for racing is when those
executives move on, the mess they leave behind will be racing’s problem for
years to come. “

There should always be a vital, key “Racing
Right Equus Zone” in every country who entertains
horseracing worldwide.
At present this zone’s workload skills go unnoticed,
badly misunderstood, harshly and
unjustly punished, ruled by male governments unjust dishonest minimum
wage and unjust male government ignorance.
At present to include the horses, and over the last
6 decades this zone has come last not first the daily needs of those who
choose a career in horseracing are not even allowed a true career path to
follow, with a true wage structure focus set on achievements reached and professional
handler-rider status won.
Group 1 handler-riders to include licensed jockey’s (Flat
and Jumps Turf)
Group 2 handler-riders
Group 3 handler-riders
Group 4 learner-student-handler-riders.
British
licensed trainers need top highly skilled handler-riders in their teams if their racehorses are ever to see a racecourse, not highly dangerous superstore shelf
staker handler-rider chaos.

STRASBOURG -- Pope Francis has attacked the European Union's "opulent" and "aloof" leadership and institutions in an extraordinary speech to the Strasbourg parliament, the first from the pontiff in more than a quarter of a decade.
The historic address, which accused politicians of treating citizens not with "dignity and transcendence" but as "cogs in a machine", saw the Pope take the EU's handling of the economic crisis to task, saying it had forgotten how to talk about anything but economics and treat people as humans beings.
Speaking in Italian, he accused the continent of becoming irrelevant and "haggard". The world, the Pope says, has become "less and less Eurocentric".

Pope
Francis: EU’s great ideas replaced by bureaucracy
Pontiff calls on European Parliament to ‘keep
democracy alive’

Pope Francis
has called on the European
Parliament to “keep democracy alive” for the people of Europe,
in an address to the European Parliament in Strasbourg .
In the first visit by a Pope to the Parliament
in more than twenty-five years, Pope Francis said that the economic crisis had
had tragic consequences for society, with the result that “the great ideas
which once inspired Europe seem to have lost their attraction, only to be replaced
by the bureaucratic technicalities of its institutions.”
“As the European Union
has expanded, there has been growing mistrust on the part of citizens towards
institutions considered to be aloof, engaged in laying down rules perceived as
insensitive to individual peoples, if not downright harmful,” the Pontiff said.

Pope Francis warns

Europe’s era of philosophy and “great ideas” has
been replaced by the "bureaucratic technicalities” of European Union
institutions, Pope Francis has warned.
In a speech that was highly critical of
contemporary political culture, the Pope told the European Parliament that the
EU was in danger of being seen as “downright harmful” to Europe’s peoples.
