Stewards Inquiry 3.25. 1m

ANALYSIS
16 ran. A competitive fillies' Group 3, but not particularly strong form.
The first five to finish all crossed the line close up. A neck between first and second.
Couldn't keep out of each others way the key issue here.

3.25 over 1m
16 ran. A messy race
FALLS OF LORA, (IRE) 3 8-13 partner SILVESTRE de SOUSA trainer Mahmood Al Zarooni for Godolphin.
"Held up in touch, trying to close but not enough room on far rail over 1f out, headway to press leaders but still not much room inside final furlong, gap closed and badly hampered final 100yds, not recover.

FALLS OF LORA who defeated today's runner - up LADYS FIRST in a C&D Listed event in July, spent most of the final 2f trying to squeeze between GATHERING and the far rail, and nearly ended over the rail at one stage. She would have gone close to winning granted a clear run. The stewards held an inquiry to consider why SILVESTRE DE SOUSA had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post. Stewards found De SOUSA guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing in that he failed to ride out on a horse who could have finished sixth, and they suspended him for one day.  RP Ron Wood.

MAKING EYES found this tougher than the French Listed race she won last time. The stewards (bloodhorse illiterate) held an inquiry to consider why MICHAEL HILLS had appeared to stop riding shortly before the winning post. They found him guilty of failing to ride out on a horse who would have finished sixth, and suspended him for four days. this being the second offence within 12 months."  Bloodhorse illiterate  Stewards  totally out of their depth here as well .

GATHERING (USA)  3 8-9 partner WILLIAM BUICK  trainer John Gosden. Led, ridden well over one 1f out, hard pressed after and battled on well until edged right, bumped rival and headed final 100yds, one pace after.

WILLIAM BUICK took the initiative from the start to kick on and keep out of trouble. Just found wanting when tiring close home, accidently bumping FALLS OF LARA.

A messy race, with all sorts of unfortunate pradicaments surfacing as this race panned out to be with tricky red alert dangerous  situations striking light for some of the riders which the bloodhorse illiterate Stewards Team failed to recognise or  manage to understand properly. Sadly.

SANDOWN PARK TEAM OF STEWARDS

D Adam, J Paxman. Stewards' Secretaries (stipendiary's) T K Brennan,M J Weddon.

This whole Sandown Team of Bloodhorse Illiterate Stewards need to be stood down with
immediate effect, until such time as this matter can be sorted properly. So as to attempt to never allow such as this to ever happen again.

RP Tom Kerr "DE SOUSA set to appeal ban for dropping hands. De SOUSA did not drop his hands he was attempting to balance FALLS OF LORA over the period that she was so nearly put through or over the rail, De SOUSA will have held FALLS OF LORA on the bridle throughout it all, otherwise she would most certainly have been put through the rail. It was De SOUSA'S bloodhorse literacy skills in the saddle that saved  FALLS OF LORA life and times.

"SILVESTRE DE SOUSA said yesterday he intends to appeal the one-day suspension he incurred in controversial circumstances at Sandown on Saturday.

"DE SOUSA was banned for failing to ride out the finish on Atalanta Stakes eighth FALLS OF LORA, with the stewards ruling he could have finished sixth had he not dropped his hands.

SILVESTRE DE SOUSA should not be having to Appeal. What he should receive is a
respectful and sincere public appology from Team Sandown Park Stewards. And a refund of all his expences for attending Sandown Park that day to ride, to work. Perhaps in the present dire state of the regulators bloodhorse illiterate  teams, the regulators should pay De SOUSA £5,000.00 (Five thousand pounds) in compensation for their bloodhorse illiterate error.
 Bloodhorse Illiteracy Tortures Horses.

"Bizarrely, the stewards also suspended MICHAEL HILLS, rider of seventh-placed MAKING EYES, for almost the same offence.
"HILLS received four days for failing to finish sixth, with the longer ban being incurred because the stewards ruled there was no element of doubt about the potential placing and because it was his second such offence in 12 months.
The bloodhorse illiterate Sandown Park stewards are punishing the bloodhorse literate MICHAEL HILLS and  De SOUSA for achieving bloodhorse literacy in his own right, both in the saddle and out of the saddle, both in theory and in practice.

"DE SOUSA, whose mount was clearly hampered in the closing stages, took to Twitter on Saturday night to express his dismay at the ban and said he intends to appeal the suspension. De SOUSA has being publically punished by bloodhorse illiterate stewards for saving  FALLS OF LORA  from harm, and possibly severe injury, even death. To say nothing about De SOUSA'S safety.
"He said  "I got squeezed up on the rail for about five strides and my horse got very unbalanced. They say I have stopped riding but I never stopped riding for a moment and they still give me a day. (While ) the jockey who put me through the rail wasn't even questioned, as to his dangerous riding.

"They say I've dropped my hands but I rode out to the line. I was very disappointed with the way the stewards took the decision." Clearly De SOUSA had a far better chance than to finish in  sixth place, without interferance he may well have won.

"Professional Jockeys Association boss Paul Struthers said he expected the jockeys' union to support DE SOUSA'S appeal. Clearly De SOUSA had a far better chance than to finish in sixth place, without interferance he may well have won.

"He said: "You've got to feel sorry for him. He got hampered twice I think and nearly got put through the rail the second time, so its a real kick in the teeth to give him a day for not riding out a horse who might have finished sixth.
Can Paul Struthers for the PJA now strike the true balance between the bloodhorse literate and the bloodhorse illiterate. What a relief it would be to everyone involved for this sad predicament to get sorted fairly sooner rather than later.

"I think there is every chance we will support SILVESTRE in an appeal. If he had not been hampered at all he may have won leave alone finished sixth. Are the PJA going to achieve the true balance soon now, with Paul Struthers to help them?
