It is once again shaping up to be a classic Cheltenham with some of the big winners from 2012 set to return to Prestbury Park in search of more glory. The ante-post betting is already kicking in with brilliant Arkle Chase winner Sprinter Sacre the hot favourite in the Queen Mother Champion Chase Betting for March. Another horse to keep an eye on in the build up to the 2013 Festival is Bobs Worth who after winning the Hennessy Gold cup earlier this season is being well backed for the Gold Cup. There are a number of top class novices from last season making the step up in company this winter including Sir Des Champs looks set for the Gold cup and Simonsig who won the Neptune in 2012 and looks all set for the Arkle Chase this time around.

Lee Mottershead “Frankie making a ‘big mistake’

“One of Britain’s top marketing gurus yesterday claimed Frankie Dettori had made “a very big mistake” by agreeing  to appear on Celebrity Big Brother, and argued that his participation in Channel 5’s flagship reality program threatens to “damage the goodwill racing feels towards him.”

“Racehorse owner Piers Pottinger, deputy chairman of Bell Pottinger Private, one of, the UK’s top five public relations groups, yesterday voiced serious concern for the 42-year-old, who last autumn parted company with Godolphin after 18 years as the organisation’s principle rider. He said: “I think its very sad. Frankie has everything to loose and nothing to gain.

“Up to now he’s been as dignified as possible and everyone has been genuinely sorry for him. I’m sure that some of the logic behind his decision is that this could turn his reputation around, but he maybe doesn’t understand that he is already very popular. He is taking a very big risk and it could go badly wrong. I hope it doesn’t, but the danger is he’ll damage the goodwill that racing feels towards him.

FRANKIE DETTORI the first person ever to appear on this show who has achieved true bloodhorse literacy at the highest level. in his own right.

The life and times of Frankie Dettori belong to Frankie Dettori and to no one else. No one can take Frankie’s bloodhorse literacy and vast experience within his chosen career zone away from him, no matter what.

Pottinger is saying “He is taking a very big risk and it could go badly wrong.” With respect Frankie has been taking a very big risk every day of his adult life, every leg-up Frankie gets is a risk. Frankie has been taking such highly dangerous risk every day of his adult life to entertain the race going public to ensure that other people can have an enjoyable day out, day off,  at the races.   Nicky Henderson sums up the risk factor accurately “Every racehorse is an accident waiting to happen.” The bloodhorse illiterate public however are unaware of the exact reasoning as to why horseracing is so dangerous, all the little things that go to making it safe or unsafe they do not understand..

Pottinger “It’s not true all exposure is good exposure. Frankie has already damaged his reputation pretty severely and this could harm it even more.

“Unlike Pottinger, John McCririck , who twice took part in the program before it was dropped by Channel 4, disagrees with those who have criticised Dettori for signing up to the prime-time show.

“They are wrong,” said McCririck. “It’s entirely up to taste and if you don’t like it, don’t listen and don’t watch. When you do go in there it’s a mental challenge. The tension builds up and the problems grow. Frankie is a moody man. He has his ups and downs , like all of us, so will he be able to survive three weeks in the house?

“You can’t go laughing and joking and cheering everybody up for three weeks. You can do it for three days, but three weeks is going to be a problem.”
