Scott Burton brings news
“ Fenton horses given all-clear

“Trainer says it’s full steam ahead after BHA concludes there is no basis to block festival participation.

Pic: “Going for gold: Philip Fenton and Last Instalment

“PHILIP FENTON declared last night it was full steam ahead for Cheltenham following news his three intended runners, led by Gold Cup third favourite Last Instalment, had received a full bill of health from extensive drug tests carried out by the BHA at his County Tipperary yard.

“BHA chief executive  Paul Bittar said there was no reason to believe any performance – enhancing  substances had been administered to the horses that Fenton could run at next weeks festival, adding, the BHA investigators had concluded there was no basis, legal or otherwise to block their  participation. “

Surely the BHA  understands that every licensed trainer needs a medicinal chest stocked with effective medication on hand for immediate use, should an accident occur with a racehorse in training at home. Looks like the BHA’s attitude is that all racehorses are wooden and feel no pain. What sort of an attitude in theory is this?  BHA waffle on, in a haze of  “shall we, shan’t we allow anabolic steroids?”  Same over whip rules “shall we, shan’t we allow whips to be used or not “ …. "Same over the Global Rules of Horseracing which don’t exist.  How on earth can any rider-jockey keep to the Rules of Global Horseracing when they don’t exist? BHA are putting  trainers handler, rider, jockey in an impossible position. An unfair impossible position. And a highly dangerous impossible position.
