PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
THE RACING POST FRIDAY NOVEMBER 11th 2011
GRAHAM GREEN "New BHA whip move not enough say riders ......
"The BHA's hopes that its latest concessions over the whip rules would bring an end to the controversy appeared to be scotched last night when Professional Jockeys Association chief executive Kevin Darley said the changes did not go far enough.
"The amendments, which include reducing the penalties for breaches while retaining the restriction of seven strikes in a Flat race and eight over jumps, take effect from today, with the timing of the announcement aimed at quelling the threat of protest action at the three-day Open meeting at Cheltenham.
" Two strikes by jockeys have been narrowly averted since new whip rules were introduced on October 10 and, despite the BHA relaxing certain elements 12 days later, Ruby Walsh's failure last week to overturn a five-day ban incurred at Aintree deepened the crisis.
"Under the latest revisions, which came amid rumours that the whip furore could lead to a high-profile departure from the BHA, jockeys going one over the limit will receive a two- day ban, instead of five days, with two over the limit earning a five-day suspension, not the seven days that triggered forfeiture of prize-money.
"Whip bans imposed since October 21 will be reappraised under the new penalty structure, which means Tony McCoy's five-day ban is reduced to two days."

This is all to do with bloodhorse illiteracy among the BHA, government, and racecourse hierarchy, all those responsible within these three corridors of power. The longer this is left to go on the more dangerous it will become for those who work each day at the dangerous sharp end to include the horses. True bloodhorse literate achievers are the only ones that can keep horseracing safe.
On all CV's of any and all personnel employed within these three power houses BHA, government and racecourses need to state wether they are bloodhorse literate or bloodhorse illiterate. Confirmation of true status as either bloodhorse illiterate, or bloodhorse literate, YES because it does make a huge difference as to how British racing is regulated.
All the bloodhorse illiterate found working in key areas within regulation, disciplinary and licensing departments dangerously off the radar, putting the lives of all racehorses and all handler riders into ever increasing danger of loosing their lives or getting terrible injuries that may never heal.
