RP Ben Hutton reports
"STACK GIVEN TEN-DAY BAN FOR FAILING TO EARN BEST PLACE ON CURLEY HORSE
"Event Stack, was suspended for ten days at Carlisle's all-women card on Monday evening after the stewards held an inquiry into the running and riding of the Barney Curley-trained SIR MOZART in the second of the 6f handicaps.

"The stewards noted that the nine-year-old appeared to be tenderly ridden throughout, beaten about 24 lengths, and they interviewed the rider and the trainer of the 7-1 shot.

"The Racing Post's comment read: "Held up, came alone to stands' side over 3f out, never on terms."

"STACK stated that her instructions were to keep on the outside where the better ground was, and to do her best. She added that she had given SIR MOZART a flick down the shoulder approaching the final furlong but she felt that the gelding was unsuited by the soft ground.

"Curley confirmed he had told STACK to keep on the outside on the better ground
and to do her best. He added that the gelding is quirky and inconsistent.

"Having heard their evidence and viewed recordings of the race the stewards found the rider in breach of Rule (B) 59.4 and guilty of failing to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible placing. Event rider STACK was having her second mount, and first in Britain, after
a debut eighth on MISTER CARTER, trained by her father, in the Ladies Derby at the Curragh on July 22nd."

JMC Turfcall Comment
Carlisle Monday August 6th 2012
Stewards: W H Brown. Mrs P. Arkwright. P S Diggle. Mrs A Wood.
J S Wilson. I D Stark. J P Elliott. J B Fitzgerald. J Vestey. R Morgan. Stewards' Secretaries (stipendiary) A Sharpe. A Dempsey.

These 12 stewards as listed to act at Carlisle (Monday August 6th 2012),none are stated to be 'Bloodhorse Literate'. So obviously they are all 'Bloodhorse Illiterate', and have no business to be sitting in judgement of the 'Bloodhorse Literate' riders who compete in partnership with a horse, in a race.

THIS DAY first race 6.05. 6.35. 7-05. 7-35. 8-05. last race 8-35, some 84 runners prepared by licensed trainers, all left to compete here, their one moment in time, with inadequate bloodhorse illiterate stewards. This behaviour, is unacceptable, not good enough by a long chalk.

THE RACE in question here:
7.05  MISTER CARTER (IRE)  9 10-7 partner MISS S M STACK (5) over 6f. 12 down to run.

Event riders  as  MISS S M STACK do not abuse horses whilst competing, not as this level of bloodhorse literacy anyway. To give a ten day ban as was the case here, is totally absurd.

The work that goes on in preparing racehorses to actually compete in a race is massive. You don't just catch a horse out in the paddocks, load it into a horsebox and drive it to the racecourse and run it in a race.  This is however what 95% of the British bloodhorse illiterate public believe to be the case.
