INTERNATIONAL HORSERACING NEWS FROM BRITAIN 2014
Your adventure into the world of Global Horseracing
Welcome to Nicholas Godfrey (GB) (Racing Post)
Graham Green brings news:
“Lynch sets sights on big
targets after Ayr return.
“ALL eyes will be on Fergal Lynch as he returns to
action in Britain after an absence of almost six years at Ayr today, but while
this is a significant event in terms of career, the former champion apprentice is already looking ahead
to performing on bigger stages.
“Lynch banned for stopping a horse ten years ago,
has his sights set on next week’s Ebor meeting when he rides the Michael O’Callaghan – trained Rapid Applause in the
Irish Thoroughbred Marketing Gimcrack Stakes.
“The jockey, who has ridden the colt in all three of
his starts, including a debut win at Cork, said: “The plan is for Rapid
Applause to run in the Gimcrack. Michael has some nice horses and riding for
him at York will be good. Being on nice horses in good races is what you look
forward to most. “
“The 36-year-old partners Mr Bounty for Callaghan in
division two of the Danny Tyson Handicap
(3.30) after the BHA, which had refused to grant him a license on the grounds
he was not a “ fit and proper person”
since 2011, last week, approved his application to be allowed to ride
under its rules as an overseas jockey, initially for a probationary period.
“The decision followed Lynch’s public expressions of
remorse and regret for deliberately stopping Bond City at Ripon in August 2004,
knowing the horse had been laid by
warned –off gambler Miles Rogers.
“Lynch subsequently agreed not to ride in the US
until he had obtained clearance in Britain and later paid £50,000 as part of a
plea bargain with the BHA government. He secured a Turf Club license in May
2012, but unlike his colleagues in Ireland, was required to seek permission
from the BHA government to ride in the UK.
“Keen to
put his controversial past behind him and to be given the chance to repair his
battered reputation, Lynch, speaking at the Curragh yesterday before travelling
to Ayr, said: “I’m not nervous about tomorrow. I’m looking forward to it. It’s
a good opportunity for Mr Bounty, who is owned by my father Charles, and should
be competitive. "
JUSTICE ON TRIAL
Fergal Lynch’s young life has been blighted from an early age by
the appalling way the British political, legal, racecourse and horseracing
government waste years in time for only their own financial gain, from other peoples lives, to suit only themselves. To use such evil tactic's on someone so young and vulnerable is a moral outrage and a Criminal Act.
