The Cambridgeshire Handicap Newmarket 1971

In 1971 the minimum handicap weight was raised from 7st to 7st 7lb's which was the beginning of the end for  several established lightweight riders. The same year that Desmond Cullen aged 31 won the Cambridgeshire partnering King Midas for trainer, Derek Candy, father of Henry, reaching a career best 45 winners that year..

Cuteness alert! 'Miracle' birth of world's first healthy panda triplets born in China

China announced today the birth of extremely rare panda triplets in the latest success for the country's artificial breeding program.

The three cubs were born July 29 in the southern city of Guangzhou, but breeders delayed an announcement until they were sure all three would survive, China News Service said.

The mother, Ju Xiao, and the three as-yet-unnamed cubs are healthy, the state-run news agency said.

Sergei Polunin explains why he felt compelled to quit the Royal Ballet

Sergei Polunin, the youngest dancer ever to be made a principal with the Royal Ballet, whose skill had earned him comparisons with Nureyev and Baryshnikov, shocked the dance world in January by unexpectedly quitting.

In his first broadcast interview since that decision he has spoken to BBC Newsnight about why he walked away.
