Second: Flintshire (GB)(4d) 4 9-5 partner Maxime Guyon Team (Andre) Fabre 20-1. Always in touch, asked and switched right rail for clear run 2f out, improved close home nearest 2 lengths off winner.
 
Third Taghrooda (GB) (15d) 3yo 8-8 partner Paul Hanagan Team (John) Gosden 11-2f. 3l+ off winner. Slow out of gate, in touch throughout on outer, asked 2f out claimed third place behind Treve. Trainer John Gosden quote: “She ran a great race. We were wide all the way, we never had any cover but that’s the effect of draw. The first and second are very good but they had the blessing of a good draw. She wasn’t particularly happy right-handed but that’s no excuse. I think she is retired, the only other possible race would be the Breeders’ Cup Turf. That would be the owner’s decision. “

Trainer Criquette Head-Maarek quote: “After England she had been stopped for a month and a half. I stopped her completely because she had a back problem and feet problem. She was living in the yard with no one on her back, We started her back in training August 1. It’s a long time. For me it is the best race I have ever won. When you prep a horse with problems and you bring her back to win like that, it is amazing
.



How the race panned out to be:
Lead horse Montviron (FR) (11d) 3 8-11 partner Cyrille Stefan Team (E) Lellouche set a decent pace for this 2014 running of the Qatar Prix de L’Arc de Triomphe over the 1m4f at Longchamp yesterday.  Headed 2f out weakening, and eased in final furlong. Treve became the first filly to win two Arc’s since the colt Alleged in 1978.

Steady from gates, pulled wide into straight and asked 2f out, responded well but too late.  

8th  Just A Way (JPN) 5 9-5 partner Yuichi Fukunaga Team (Naosuko) Sugai  8-1
Settled mid-field right rail, asked 2f out, switched left close home, unable to quicken.

14th  Gold Ship (JPN) (2d)  5 9-5b partner Norihiro Yokoyama Team (Naosuki) Sugai 12-1 Settled in rear, outpaced throughout.

"WITH Tieirry Jarnet in floods of tears, Alec Head likewise and Criquette following suit they changed the official going after the Arc yesterday from 'good to 'good to soft in places wherever connections of Treve have been.'
