Yesterday live from Cheltenham CH4 Nick Luck and Mick Fitzgerald talk to Sprinter Sacra's partner in the saddle Barry Geraghty talking through the issues Team (Nicky) Henderson have needed to cope with, to bring Sprinter Sacra safely through the health difficulties that he has suffered, the long time off the racetrack he has missed, and the long road back in training leading to his first race back, likely to be later this month at Ascot if all goes to plan.
Nicky Henderson explains that racehorses are accidents waiting to happen, he is absolutely right.
Team (Nicky) Henderson has had some huge disappointments, last year and this year with some of his best horses losing their lives, or suffering injury, which often means a lengthy time off the racecourse. The mighty Sprinter Sacre has had a spell on the sidelines with a heart problem. On the comeback trail now, he worked along at Newbury racecourse jumping some fences with his partner in the saddle Barry Geraghty there on Monday of this week before racing, a test he came through with flying colours. A huge relief to all those involved throughout his recovery at home.

A racehorse in training senses all people around him at any one time accurately, he sums up fast if there is someone around him who he cannot trust, or needs to be very careful about, like a grease lightening warning.  A bloodhorse illiterate person for instants. In the hands of a bloodhorse illiterate person a racehorse in training, swiftly takes over himself, responding fast to rid himself of such a dangerous person’ . Galloping away loose that racehorse may indeed have an accident, get killed even.

GLOBAL JOCKEYS are not puppets on anyone’s string. They all have, or should have their absolute professional rights and needs met in any and all countries they may ride in. But they are not allowed to have any rights and needs are they. Because the governments' don’t even bother to run horseracing with true bloodhorse literate horseracing rules. Global jockey’s are being left to put-up and shut-up. Expected to go out and ride every day leaving their lives dangerously open to possible death, destruction and horrific injury, along with the racehorses they partner. The top table people who allow the like of this to be going on need their top table kicking over, and themselves kicked out along with it.

AS Human Rights stand at present these are totally and completely inadequate. Useless would perhaps be a better word.
