PAUSE FOR THOUGHT
In yesterday's Racing Post
JMC: There were two features, first News page 16 Lee Mottershead  "Franklin attacks C4 over alarming loss of viewers"

AND

Julian Muscat Interview pages 20-21,  Andrew Franklin is 'Bloodhorse Illiterate' (Highflyer) .
"Julian Muscat talks to the former Channel 4 racing producer about his fears  over what he believes to be 'alarming loss of viewers'  Saying  "I think The Morning Line has been extraordinarily dry. I don't think it quite knows whether it is a magazine program or a chat show. Wrong, it is neither.  Fact, British horseracing belongs or should have always belonged and to this very day and for always to the true bloodhorse literate achievers, all those who belong in the true Racing Right Equus Zone, the people whose daily work allows this sport to function every day together with the racehorses in training and the people who 's work pieces this sport together every day, the true essence being 50 per cent racehorse and 50 per cent handler rider skill through which the racecourses are able to host race meetings  every day  around the world. Over the years this true essence has been taken over by the  'bloodhorse illiterate' leaving British horseracing 100 per cent more dangerous today than it ever needs to be. It could be said that British horseracing has up until now been mugged by the bloodhorse illiterate, and worst of all by the bloodhorse illiterate political, legal. racecourse and horseracing government.

One could wonder and ask,  who exactly is Andrew Franklin?  "Channel 4 Racing's long-term supremo the man that has launched a stinging attack on the programme, describing the current format as lacking the spark, energy and humour, of old and dubbing the exodus of viewers for the sport's biggest  occasion as alarming. (British Aintree Grand National 2015)"

"Franklin's 28-year tenure for Highflyer at the helm of Channel 4's  coverage came to an end, in January 2013, replaced by IMG Sports media networks."

If you don't want to play the popular ' gambling game ' that horseracing provides, and if you don't like horses you don't switch your television on. There are many zones that go to make up a day at the races. Or a raceday at home watching on the television. The television provides a good starting point introduction base for people interested to find out what horseracing is all about. Especially The Morning Line.
