Ascot could be heavy for Champions Day

CHAMPIONS DAY at Ascot on Saturday could potentially take place on heavy ground after a significant amount of rain fell at the track on Tuesday night.

"FRANKEL WEEK WHAT DOES TOMORROW HAVE INSTORE?

All depends upon how well the Turf Track at Ascot  has managed to cope with the heavy rain, as summed up by Paul Cole in this morning's Racing Post:

Paul Cole
"FRANKEL only has one thing to beat and that is the ground. It's been a difficult year for clerks of courses and trainers and it would be awful if it keeps raining.

"With FRANKEL you have to believe what you see and that he is probably the best horse any of us have ever seen. I saw the trainer at the sales and he told me the horse is in fantastic condition. If he can handle the going he should win as he's the best there's been for a long, long time, but the ground could spoil the party."

FRANKEL is only four years old now this year  2012.
FRANKEL Foaled in 2008
FRANKEL a yearling from January 1st 2009
A two year old from January 1st 2010 FRANKEL'S winning debut performance and the other challenges he faced as a two-year-old, he won all his races, with ease.

A three year old on January 1st 2011 FRANKEL goes from strength to strength winning all his races with ease, learns to settle much better with attention paid, careful handling, riding to gain his trust and his confidence the number one priority. Achieved.

Throughout 2012 FRANKEL now as a four-year-old has absorbed all he has been asked to absorb, throughout 2009 as a yearling. Throughout 2010 as a two-year-old. Throughout 2011 as a three-year-old. And now throughout 2012 as a four year old, again we see FRANKEL  going forward again  from strength to strength, with the same Team building his superstar talent.

All his working life to date FRANKEL has been learning. Frankel has been allowed to learn
and to develop, whilst at the same time reaching peak athletic fitness for all the races that he has been asked to challenge,  he has gone out and won them all. FRANKEL has been allowed to developed and to understand what is being asked of him, he has grown into a confident and a happy racehorse. All his prep homework learned through careful patient 'Bloodhorse Literate Know How' a great and wonderful achievement by TEAM CECIL united.

The skill and art, the hard work, the thrills, the spills, the disappointments and the heart break but through it all the true friendship of some wonderful horses. The bustle of Morning Stables. The tranquillity of Evening Stables every day of every week, fair weather or foul, the discipline and routine continue to evolve. Favourite horses ... big winners, brave losers, extracts of those magic moments, characters and horses, going about their varied tasks on the racecourses at exercise, on the gallops, in the paddocks and in the stable yard. The homework that goes into preparation of an animal for the track, and the results of those efforts .... win, loose or draw. ... big winners or brave losers

"CECIL, who owns a stud at nearby Helmsley, was born in Scotland but is one of Yorkshire’s

most popular adopted sons and, as much as the cheering was for his wonder horse, an equal

amount was for the trainer, an integral part of the story and whose comeback from the

brink has been so intertwined with this one horse FRANKEL.

"FRANKEL'S victory at York made me feel 'twenty years better', says trainer Sir Henry Cecil,

as he battles cancer. "

"Even by Sir Henry Cecil's standards the reception accorded him and his horse on

Knavesmire was something special, the sort of noise reserved for victors on the history-

sodden fields of Aintree and Cheltenham and rarely heard in the more reserved and refined

enclosures of the Flat.

"Still fighting cancer, suffering from a desperately low immune system and looking thin and

frail underneath his black fedora, Cecil has hardly been seen on a racecourse since Frankel

won at Royal Ascot. Just getting to York had been such an obvious effort and that was a fact

hugely appreciated in this most sporting of counties, but the feeling was mutual. “It’s

fantastic,” whispered Cecil. “It’s great for Yorkshire and they deserved to see him.”
