WIN: BACK IN FOCAS – RUBY WALSH trainer W P Mullins 6-4f
A lovely horse, a Novice Chaser with plenty still to learn.
RP Photograph
page 8, showing this horse has great presence, intelligence flair and style,
learning
to tackle the big chase fences. It will be interesting to see how he gets on in
this.

EQUUS FORM
Mount Benbulben and Davy Condon winner at Fairyhouse on Saturday 1st December
Mount Benbulben overcame his fall last time out to get off the mark over fences at Fairyhouse under Davy Condon. Not always the most careful jumpers, he recovered from a blunder early on to win with ease.

Another big winner for Team Henderson
yesterday when novice chaser SIMONSIG partner BARRY GERAGHTY handler presenter HOLLY CONTE (1-6f) took the 12.55 Williamhill.com Novices’ Chase at Kempton Park
by 35 lengths.
Lee
Mottershead brings us news: “Just six days on from SIMONSIG chasing debut win
at Ascot he takes this Novices’ Chase at
Kempton in his stride with confidence, no problem - job well done. Henderson says “It was a brave shout to run
him back so quick, and very
un-Henderson-like, but I thought that practice is
really all he wants.” To keep
his eye in over the big chase fences, a confidence booster. Henderson goes on “That was his first run over
two miles but there was never a worry about it. We’ve always said that when he
went over fences it would be over two miles, it’s just that over hurdles Barry
felt he would be better over two and a half.
He is doing everything we could ask him to do. He has just won on the
bridle. I’m not being rude about the opposition, and HINTERLAND is not a mug,
but we’ve given him 11lb yet it wasn’t a contest. Barry said that half way down
the back he thought about me standing in
the stands absolutely wetting myself while he was having a lovely time. He
summed it up right.” Asked to sum up SIMONSIG’S standing compared to SPRINTER
SACRE Henderson added: “They have been known to saunter along together but you
have to be very careful when you do that. They can help each other but it would
be awfully easy for them to do too much. They are pretty similar and they both
have a lot of speed. “
