What will happen to all the young ones
just starting out in the real world if issues as this one
are  allowed to continue on blighting  this sport.

FOUR  ZONES badly effected over this issue all called into question here, the REGULATION ZONE  the RACECOURSE ZONE the PUNTERS ZONE and the EQUUS ZONE.

PREVENTION IS ALWAYS  THE BEST WAY FORWARD ESPECIALLY IN A DANGEROUS SPORT LIKE HORSERACING.

As Nicky Henderson points out " Racehorses are all accidents waiting to happen."

"BHA PLANS CHANGED AFTER POWELL JUMPS AN EXTRA FENCE
AND LOSES RACE.
Lewis Porteous reports:
"CHAOS reigned at Fakenham yesterday when Brendan Powell became the latest rider to make a major blunder at the track and incur the wrath of punters when taking the wrong course on 5-4 favourite Benny The Swinger with the conditional jockeys' handicap chase at his mercy. EQUUS ZONE  BRENDAN POWELL (Jnr) is blamed.  "What a fool young Powell is ... etc etc, etc ... blame and punish this foolish stupid young rider, the  bloodhorse illiterate regulators chant, as do the bloodhorse illiterate racecourse regulators chant, as do the bloodhorse illiterate punters chant.
"Holding a healthy advantage, Powell and his mount jumped the last fence safely but instead
of switching back to the hurdles course and the correct run-in, the partnership continued on the chase track, jumping the fence in front of the stands. They were automatically disqualified. ....."

In Theory and in Practice how can the finish of a Steeplechase Track be expected to revert to a Hurdle Track ... doesn't make sense.

Licensed Jockey's have far more to think about when partnering a racehorse in a race, especially a Chase than counting whip strokes, or counting circuits or jumps to come or jumps already successfully achieved .

BLOODHORSE ILLITERACY ZONE
HERE we find the route cause found within both these the REGULATION ZONE , and RACECOURSE ZONE  both, badly effecting punters. This is a dreadful thing to allow to happen, especially as it involves a young rider just starting out in his career. There are no excuses for the bloodhorse illiteracy found within the working practices of both those  Zones, the Regulation Zone, the Racecourse Zone.

Victimes of circumstance, how easily this could and should have been prevented, especially as it has happened before. A little understanding, a little caring, a little thought, that was all that was needed.

This race was won easily long before the hurdle track came into contention, therefore the race was won by BENNY THE SWINGER and BRENDAN POWELL and the punters  who had backed  BENNY THE SWINGER should have been paid out.

If you call a cab in London to take you where you need to be. You sit in the back of that cab and let the driver take you to where you need to be, you then pay that driver and get out of his cab. You do not need to know how to drive yourself.

But young Brendan  Powell did need to know how to ride in partnering Benny The Swinger in this chase, he had in fact won this race long before the Chase track was taken over by the Hurdle track, the  manoeuvre that cost him the race.   If  Brendan  had sat up on Benny The Swinger as a passenger after getting the leg up in the parade ring he would not have been able to get Benny The Swinger out of the parade ring even, leave alone get him down to the start. Brendon was in tune with Benny The Swinger immediately he got that leg up, he stayed accurately in tune with Benny The Swinger from there on until he jumped off, which should have been in the winners enclosure, no punter would have been let down.  Brendan like Sarah Chang played his part aboard Benny The Swinger, the only problem difference being that Sarah Chang's back up support musician's stayed in tune with her throughout. Brendan's support from the Racecourse Zone let him down, out of tune to,  his needs and the needs of Benny The Swinger .  Same as  the Regulation Zone let him down, out of tune to, his needs and the needs of Benny The Swinger.

Using here, Sarah Chang's brilliant violin performance with full orchestral back up,  in an attempt to show,   an attempt to make a vital  point here an IN TUNE  vital point observance. All the musician's who took part in  Sarah Chang's performance were in tune with each other, every single one, no matter what instrument they played, to take part, they were all in tune together.

Benny The Swinger and Brendan Powell had two large and powerful organisations against him, the  bloodhorse illiterate Racecourse Zone  and the bloodhorse illiterate Regulators  Zone, with the added anger of the bloodhorse illiterate Punters Zone.  End of true sad story.
